Rome airports: an AI assistant to guide every traveller

In a large airport, traveller information is scattered across dozens of systems. Aeroporti di Roma chose to answer that with a conversational assistant powered by agentic AI.

The context

Flights, boarding gates, car parks, transport, shops, baggage: passengers have to juggle multiple, sometimes contradictory sources. The challenge is not a lack of data, but bringing it together in the right place, at the right moment.

How AI comes in

The ADRYX assistant, reachable through WhatsApp and the airport website, answers in plain language and provides real-time information (flight status, gate change, terminal services). Under the bonnet, several specialised AI agents are orchestrated (an architecture built with AWS and Storm Reply): that is what “agentic AI” means in practice.

What it means for you

The principle transfers to any journey that combines several services and real time (transport, health, events, local government). At this stage the operator communicates mainly on the rollout and the scale (in the order of 50 million travellers a year), not on an independently measured gain — we too prefer cases that start small and are then measured, hosted in France.

The takeaway: An AI agent can unify the information across a complex customer journey: an ideal place to start.
